Configuring Google Earth |
|
When you click on the "View this leg in Google Earth" link on the log page, Google Earth should open up, and should display the relevant placemarks and tracks. If not, check the following:
That you have Google Earth installed (you can download it free for Mac, Windows and Linux).
That your browser is configured with the correct file associations. Google Earth should set this up when installed, but Linux users in particular may need to do it manually. Set the following MIME types to open in Google Earth:
| MIME type | File suffix |
|---|---|
| application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml | kml |
| application/vnd.google-earth.kmz | kmz |
If you can't do this, you may need to save the file to disk and manually open it in Google Earth.
That the placemarks are actually set to be displayed. In Google Earth, look in the left-hand toolbar under "Places" for a folder called "Temporary places", then a sub-folder called "Voyages of Moonrise". Make sure all the folders are checked.
If you want to save the placemarks permanently, then you will need to move them out of "Temporary places" into another placemark folder.
